For further flexibility, DarQroom enables you to upload and store an unlimited number of images, whatever their formats and sizes.
We accept all filesizes (up to 150MB per file) and all file formats : not only Jpegs, but also Tiff, PSD, and most RAW formats (from Canon CR2, Nikon NEF, Pentax PEF and some Sony DSLRs).
While importing your photos, DarQroom retrieves embedded date such as speed, aperture, lens and more and sorts them immediately. You can enhance the description of your images with keywords and organize them in categories and collections.
The original version of your file is saved and backed up on our servers, and then replicated in each and every of our twelve data centers.
Depending on your computer's operating system and your preferred Web browser, and with the same ease as you do with your photo management software the DarQroom Uploader takes advantage of different technologies to let you easily upload a large number of files in one single operation. Our easy to use drag and drop uploader includes thumbnail previews, real-time status updates, and estimated upload times.
The uploader is tightly integrated with your DarQroom account to provide a seamless workflow and to best utilize the available Internet connection speed from your ISP.
You can also use our various plugins to upload directly from your preferred photo management program or from your computer. You can upload directly from Adobe Lightroom, Apple iPhoto, Apple Aperture and Google Picasa. We respect your existing organization and hierarchy. With such plugins, you do not have to worry whether your local hard drive is organized the same way as your DarQroom around since your collections can be synchronized easily.
While importing your original files, we respect the way you organize, describe and prioritize your files on your favorite software. Let the plugin manage your uploads to mirror your local organization.
We store different versions of the images you upload on DarQroom through our data-centers distributed over several continents
Once you upload an original image, we convert it into sRGB for a better display on Internet and we provide seven formats :
– Mini thumbnail (120x80 px)
– Square thumbnail (120x120 px)
– Small thumbnail (320x240 px, adjusted if necessary)
– Medium size (640x480 along the longest side - adjusted if necessary)
– Large thumbnail (1024x768 pixels along the longest side - adjusted if necessary)
– HD thumbnail (1920x1200) for display on 30″ monitors or your HDTV.
All images and thumbnails are available to the owner for direct linking.
You can also specify the largest image size that can be downloaded by your viewers. If you use our watermarking feature, downloaded images will have watermarks included. Within My DarQroom, it is easy to download back original full size files previously uploaded to your DarQroom account.
There are many ways to retrieve your high-resolution photos from DarQroom when you need them. Originals are stored unchanged on our servers and you can download them back at any time. You can optionally allow original photos to be downloaded by visitors.
Many photo sharing sites delete your photos if you don't buy prints. And many resize or compress them. At DarQroom, we simply don't.
